Unlike energy generated by a plant which is largely wasted, a CHP unit uses up any ‘waste’ heat captured, making it more efficient than electric off the grid or gas from the mains. And having a CHP unit means you’re eligible for an Enhanced Capital Allowance and Climate Change Levy exemption. Winner, winner.

With solar PV, if you don’t use the electricity generated during the day, it gets fed into the National Grid – you might get paid for it, but not as much as you would save if you used the power yourself. Battery storage is a rapidly evolving piece of tech that works with PV solar panels by storing surplus electricity generated during the daytime to use later at night – saving money and the planet.
